    Well, we are volunteers. We try to help out where we can, but we just
    don't always have the time, ambition, or energy to always answer every

    Well, we developers have been busy, and we've actually gotten fonts on
    unix working via XFT/FontConfig. This fixed bug 1030 and a host of
    others, including your TTF bug. No longer do you need to specially setup
    AbiWord to handle fonts, it "just works."

    So, if you have the time and energy, I suggest you check out our CVS
    version and ./configure --enable-xft. If not, I can only suggest quiet
    patience or fixing the soon-to-be-outdated documentation.
