Development is going strong, but there are only so many developers and only
so much available time. The developers do care about users' concerns, but
as this is a volunteer project mostly done for fun, not all developers
necessarily want to do user support (they would rather be improving AbiWord
so users [which includes themselves] have more of the featuers they want :-)
Also it is important to keep in mind that there are two lists and many
developers may not be subscribed to the user list, so they never see the
requests for help. And not all developers work on all platforms, for example
I generally only work on AbiWord for Windows/DOS so can not in general help
with platform specific issues for Linux, Mac, etc. Not that I have had
time lately to do much development. Also, this list is here for AbiWord
users to help other AbiWord users, so the same could be asked of them,
which in the end I think boils down to limited resources (both in terms
of people with the knowledge to answer, ability to answer in a
nontechnical manner, and those with the time).
This of course is my own opinion and does not reflect that of any other
AbiWord developer/user.
