Error when using Abiword from command line

Hello,

I am very new to Abiword and would like to apologize if any of my
problems below are known issues or have been discussed before.

I am using a small Tcl/Tk script to count words and characters in
various documents (usually there is more than one document, hence the
use of a special tool).

This script is called "Tkount" and needs Abiword and the command line
tool to convert a number of formats into txt, and then perform the
word and character count on these files.

I know of at least one person who uses this script on Linux and who
has never experienced any problems with it. However, when I use it (on
Ubuntu Dapper with Abiword 2.4.4, installed through Synaptic) I get
the following error message:

(abiword:11886): GModule-CRITICAL **: g_module_close: assertion
`module != NULL' failed

Can somebody shed some light on this? I have already searched Google,
but to no avail. I just can't imagine what is wrong. I have the
command line tool installed (checked that), and already removed and
then re-installed Abiword (the second time I installed Abiword Gnome).

The only thing I can think of is that the plugins I downloaded are
somewhat restricted. Is there a known issue with the command line tool
under Ubuntu?

Any input appreciated.

Sonja
