spell check flags possesive apostrophes as a misspell?

Greetings,

I'm a new AbiWord user (Version 2.2.4, downloaded in
install ready form, from the AbiWord site, running on
Windows XP).

I'm a bit confused by the Spell Checker. When I run
it, it flags the following:

"He followed the criminal's path."

The Spell Checker wants to change criminal's to
criminals, but I want a possessive apostrophe. I
wouldn't think I'd need to add criminal's to the
dictionary in order to cause it to stop flagging this?

I did notice, it does not flag this:

"He followed the lion's path."

Curios.

Thanks,
Tigre

PS Sorry if this is a duplicate. I believe I sent the
first before I was fully subscribed to the list, and
thus was not certain it was received by the list.
