I just tried the CVS from 16/05/99 (got them at 22.24 - 22.27 localtime)
on Redhat 5.2, had to make a ~/fonts with the unix-fonts
(and had to use the original fonts.dir).
After that AbiWord_d started fine, and showed the test-files in word97, rtf
and abw just fine.
The AbiWord_s however, segfaulted like this:
[albi@onderste albi]$ AbiWord_s
Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/libgdk_imlib.so.1: undefined symbol: gdk_display
Segmentation fault
a "strace AbiWord_s 2> logfile" lead to the following:
open("/usr/lib/libglib-1.2.so.0", O_RDONLY) = 6
mmap(0, 4096, PROT_READ, MAP_PRIVATE, 6, 0) = 0x401bb000

mmap(0, 137352, PROT_READ|PROT_EXEC, MAP_PRIVATE, 6, 0) = 0x401bb000

mmap(0x401dc000, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_FIXED, 6,
0x20000)
close(6) = 0
write(2, "\n", 1
) = 1
write(2, "Gtk", 3Gtk) = 3
write(2, "-", 1-) = 1
write(2, "WARNING **: ", 12WARNING **: ) = 12
write(2, "/usr/lib/libgdk_imlib.so.1: unde"...,

I'm using a gnomified icewm (0.9.38 IIRC) with the marble gtk-theme,
with Gnome 1.0.3 on Redhat 5.2 with kernel 2.2.6
any more info wanted ?
