I've manually removed Calibre's two mimetype files from my filesystem.

# rm /usr/share/applications/calibre-ebook-viewer.desktop
 /usr/share/applications/calibre-gui.desktop

Now I get Abiword when it calls the mimetype, tries opening Gimp. But it's
mimetype is not calling gimp remote (or it looks like it's starting with the
--new-instance option) as on recursive calls from Print Preview, opens a new
instance of Gimp every time.

Sigh. Sounds like multiple upstream bugs.

I've posted a bug to bugs.gentoo.org, but the only effect will likely to make
noise, as I think somebody thinks mimetype is Godly.

I've buckled and just compiled and installed evince, but I see no reason why a
user should be able to specify their own preview such as gv. I think gv is
just fine and dandy!
