Re: Bit of a request/idea for comments/annotations

I'm not meaning to hijack the thread and will post under a different subject if so, but maybe this is a related issue...

I'm really anxious about the feasibility of creating a "note-window" for apps like Abiword. What I'm talking about is a side-panel window that opens within the normal GUI and stays associated with that file. It's for comments or annotations, but really for longer notes one wants to make while composing. The lack of this totally frustrates me, and I wonder whether others feel the same. It would be great to have a feature like this in Abiword. But I'm not a coder so don't know what it would really involve.

It could be a side-panel you could toggle on and off (the word processor RoughDraft has this), or a separate window that could also toggle on and off (the old DOS/Windows word processor Marcel had this). This would be much more efficient than opening a separate editor and resizing the window and docking it somewhere while trying to keep the composing window uncluttered, and also simpler than trying to keep track of which note file is attached to which text file.

Apologies if I'm off-subject or if there's already a feature like this that I'm unaware of. But I've wanted it for a long time and am ready to pass the hat to pay a coder to produce something like this. Couldn't this *possibly* combine with what David, just expanding the functionality?
