My Greek usage has been fairly limited, but on the Mac I seem to be able
to use almost any program. I added additional keyboard layouts, and then
put a little icon for switching up in the status area of the menu bar. I
just switch to Greek, and type away. Accents and breathing marks are
added by hitting certain keys (like [ or ;) before the letters, and can
be combined. I seem to be able to get all the accents and breathings,
though there may be some less-common ones I'm missing. My understanding
is that if I use a unicode font that supports those letters, it just
works. I sometimes choose to use the freely available Gentium, but often
I just stick with whatever the default font I'm using is.
I'm not sure if this works similarly on Windows or Linux, but now I'm
curious. I wonder where I put that Ubuntu CD...
