OK - the otf font is available to gnumeric, to gedit, etc. so it is
being found by fontconfig.
I just installed AbiWord 2.3.99 (a src.rpm just showed up for it in the
fedora extras devel branch - fortunately the two buildrequires not in
core4, gtkmathml and some other library - both built fine). It also does
not see the OpenType font.

So at this point I'll file an RFE with the Fedora abiword maintainer,
I'll check some of the free font sites for a free OpenType font that he
or she can use to verify/test.
