Font Kerning issue

I am using Abiword 2.2.9 under Linux. I am using the very latest URW
(Ghostscript) fonts from:

ftp://ftp.gnome.ru/fonts/urw/release/

(pre41 at present).

Now, when I create a document with this:

Isn't it ironic

The word "it" is much too close to "Isn't" in the PostScript
output from the print command. I assume this is triggered by
the presence of the apostrophe. The problem happens with
Nimbus Roman, URW Palladio, but not with Luxi Serf, Nimbus Mono
or Bitstream Vera Sans fonts.

Is this due to a bug in the URW font kerning, or is it an
Abiword problem?

  Thanks in advance,
