So after two days and at least sixteen messages, including ones from at
least two others with the same problem, we're back to the same old same
old, right?
Whoever runs the list doesn't understand the problem, or can't be bothered
to; and whoever does understand it has no way to do anything except
killfile abiword-user in the mailer that has to be subscribed but can't be
set to nomail.
As we used to say in other contexts, what a way to run a railroad!
Btw, there *is* a solution of sorts which just might possibly be worth
mentioning -- say, for instance, if our listowner has or can get an
account at a US university.
Listserv (and afaik, only listserv: not mailman, not majordomo, not
whatever else) has an option called INDEX.
Listserv is big and expensive and may need an IT department behind it;
only large institutiions seem to run it. That option, if it could be
made available, does something very similar, using email only, to what
Gmane does for those of us who use it.
