Or a modern Redhat variant like Fedora Core 3/4 - which have dependency
resolution just as good as Debian.
Red Hat 8 is really old, no longer supported, no longer updated, it's a
box waiting to be hacked.
Fedora, Ubuntu, recent Debian, etc. would be much much better to install
to play with Linux. Red Hat 8 must be at least 3 years old now - if not
older.
Since R8 shipped there has been Red Hat 9, and Fedora Core 1,2,3,4
