Abiword is a beautiful thing.

I confirm that my problem relates to bug 7149.

That is:
S3 Inc. ViRGE, hinting on, antialiasing off = no problem
ATI Rage 128, hinting on, antialiasing off = problem
ATI Rage 128, hinting on, antialiasing on = no problem
All working with Slackware 10.1.

As most of my machines have Rage 128 I'll have to have antialiasing on.
I can live with that.

Thanks for the help.

Regards

Ian.
