I'm not sure the answers that have been given really
address the question -- though of course only Mary can
say. Everyone is talking about modifying the shortcut
properties, but what shortcut? I imagine Mary has an
icon (or other shortcut) for running Abi itself, but
Mary asked about opening *documents* maximized (by
default). And there are various ways of doing that.
If she is using File > Open within Abi, then there is
no obvious shortcut to modify, and the question would
seem to be whether a maximized main Abi window will
open all documents and other subsequent windows
maximized as well, or more generally how it decides
what size to use for new windows.
If Mary uses icons or other shortcuts for her
documents, then in principle she could modify them
all, though I'm not sure (since I personally never use
icons except for executables) whether that is done by
selecting "open maximized" (as for a program) or by
passing an argument to Abi telling it what to do. But
in any case, modifying all those links by hand would
be a chore, and the question would become whether
there is any way to automate this. Can Abi be told to
Save files and make shortcuts too, and if so can it be
told to default them to maximized?
And finally, which I imagine is the most important
case, if Mary is opening documents by double-clicking
their files (in Explorer or My Computer), relying on
their .abw extension to invoke Abi, then what is
needed is to modify that file association (e.g., in
Explorer) so that the message it passes to Abi is not
simply the standard one ("Open" or whatever) but
includes the request to do it maximized. And I don't
know whether there is any standard Windows message or
convention for this; I'd guess it is simply up to each
program, i.e. Abi.
So at least in the third case, and maybe in the second
as well, what Mary needs to know is Abi's command-line
switch/argument/parameter for opening the document or
window (or however you do it) maximized. Only it's a
little more complicated than usual, because the name
of the file to open is not being passed explicitly on
a command line but rather by the file association.
But unless Abi and Windows have obligatory and
opposite rules for the order of arguments, this won't
be a problem, just maybe require a little care.
