You seem to realise you shouldn't but yet you do it anyway

your recommendation might carry more weight if you gave us reasons we had
not heard before or were trying to suggest some key feature you would like
to see improved or at least tell us something you do like about Abiword

Together most of us have tried just about every word processor you could
think of or at least are aware of their existance because competitors can
be a useful source of good ideas (and also of ideas better not copied).

You may not be aware of this but Abiword already includes basic support
for OpenOffice files and work is being done to add OpenDocument support
thanks to INdT who are being sponsored by Nokia. OpenOffice Writer does
not include support for Abiword files (even though they have many paid
developers and many more people helping out than abiword does).

Comparing a whole huge office suite bundled with all kinds of bits and
pieces to a small fast light word processor is not very fair. As others
have pointed out there are certain things which Abiword is better at and
many reasons why someone might choose to use abiword.

I myself also use OpenOffice for other tasks and OpenOffice 2 is certainly
a big improvement but Abiword is my first choice for word processing.

If you want to be helpful perhaps you could suggest one or two specific
things you think are important and which might help us to make abiword
better?

Sincerely
