That's an awfully naive way to determine a file's
type. We apply content sniffing plus file extension
detection.

You really want the filetype detection to work
properly. What you asked for is a work around for the
latter's brokenness. But it can be added easilly
enough.

That's not true. Currently, only the text importer
uses it to specify what encoding a text file is in.
Also, specifying the file type isn't what imp-props or
exp-props is for. They're for specifying extra
parameters to an already-determined import or export
file format converter.

Yes. Please file a bug in bugzilla with the file types
that aren't auto-detected properly. Be sure to attach
