Having been told (twice!) that I could indeed file a bug
report, I have just had occasion to do so -- discovering, to my
surprise, that something called BugBuddy did for me a lot of what I
had vaguely perceived necessary and couldn't've done myself. Many
thanks to the developers of that, and to the AbiWord developers for
adopting it. I hope it helps, and will welcome any critique; I do
*want* to help!
After it was filed, when I went to close what I had opened
by way of trying to reproduce the crash, I discovered that I had to
close AbiWord twice. (Like my user, I had launched it, opened an
extant chapter, opened a second extant chapter, and started
cross-combining.)
I had put in the report that I couldn't tell whether one or
two instances of Abiword were open. I presume this answers that.
