Hi All,
I'm a native en_US speaker (typist ?) interested in learning russian. I
have succeeded in getting emacs to work : my modified XF86Config allows
me to input koi8-r
symbols and I have cyrillic fonts installed in my X font server so that
I get nice cyrillic text in emacs.
With Abiword (1.05 and 1.99.5) I am able to get russian translations for
the menus (*not* what I want !) but can't get cyrillic characters to
appear correctly in the document body (which *is* what I want.) Just a
bunch of little circles. This occurs either if I start in a ru_RU.koi8r
locale, or if I start in en_US.UTF-8 and use the "set language" command.
With 1.99.5, the claim is that any font available on my font server
(xfs) should be available in AbiWord; it's not working : I don't see the
Cyrillic fonts (cronyx, et al.) that are available via xfontsel.
Is this perhaps related to my other post about the dictionary not being
found ? How does AbiWord know I'm giving it koi8-r key symbols -- is it
via russian.hash-encoding ? Is there some other way I have to declare
that I'm using koi8-r ?
TIA,
Jeff
