The problem is more tricky than it sounds, because Word does things
behind your back without telling. If the diagram is an embedded object
(from the OLE point of view) then you are SOL. This is what happen when
diagrams comes from Visio, Micrografx Designer and problem any other
Windows program that do that. One of the thing that make this more
complicated is that most of the time you also need the original program
(at least for Micrografx Designer this happened as a Word doc created on
Windows did not contain the pictures when open on Mac because Word on
Mac did not know what to do). You don't dream of that feature. You have
nightmares !!

I don't think we'll do that. It is a word processor, not a nuclear
plant. But we'll add sometime in the future embedding capabilities to
allow seamlessly edit diagram in an external tool. We already have
plug-ins for that to open bitmap images in GIMP.
