    Ok, this works.

    In AbiWord.Profile put
            <Scheme
                name="AbiVi"
                KeyBindings="viEdit"
                KeyBindingsCycle="1"
                />

    And then, at the beginning of AbiWord.Profile,
    find the Select tag, and modify the scheme
    attribute to refer to the new Scheme:
            <Select
                scheme="AbiVi"
                autosaveprefs="1"
                useenvlocale="1"
                />

    This is potentially very cool, but an awful lot is missing.
    Has viEdit gotten past where they were a few years ago?

    If so, where are the changes documented?
    (Btw, move by sentence was claimed to be implemented but
    does not work.)

    I am a Vim user, so I can speak to some of the desirable
    additions. But I am really not a programmer, so unless
    keybindings are particularly easy to customize I cannot
    contribute at that end.

    Cheers,
    Alan
