Hi Ed,
If you start AbiWord, then use File - Open or the Open toolbar button
to get a Open File dialog (or the Mac OS X equivalent), does the document
get opened correctly? If not, we might get you to create a bug in
Bugzilla and attach the offending document so we can reproduce the problem.
