    HI Chris,
I believe yuour problem is this. AbiWord can be built to use two
different types of dictionaries, Those that work with the program "ispell"
and those that work with the program "psell". . Ximian builds AbiWord that
use "psell", we build packages that work with "ispell". All the
dictionaries on our website only work with "ispell". So you have to ways
    to solve your prolem.

    1. Get the appropriate dictionary from the ximian website.

    2. Install our AbiWord rpm instead. Since we don't supply rpm's for
Mandrake 8.1 I would recommend trying to find the correct dictionary from
    Ximian.

However I'm not sure ximian supplies a British dictionary. You might
    instead
have to set your docuemnts to use US- English --- YUK!

If they don't send them a polite flame :-)

    Cheers

    Martin
