I believe that this problem is an old and common one; my apologies for
disturbing everyone with it.
I am running Linux, Mandrake 8.2. I have downloader abiword-1.0.3.tar.gz,
put it in a directory under /root, and unpacked it as per usual; I have
run first autogen.sh and then configure, and these run fine.
But then when I run make I get the following error:
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXi
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[5]: *** [AbiWord_s] Error 1
make[5]: Leaving directory `/root/abiword/abiword-1.0.3/abi/src/wp/main/unix'
Now here is the record of the command: ls /usr/X11R6/lib/libXi:
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXinerama.a /usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.so.6@
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.so@ /usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.so.6.0*
and here is a record of the command: grep Xi GNU*
GNUmakefile:GTK_LIBS = -L/usr/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lgtk -lgdk -rdynamic -lgmodule -lglib -ldl -lXi -lXext -lX11 -lm
Thanks in advance for all help/advice/suggestions.
