This sounds similar to the problem I asked about a couple of days ago
    - XAbiWord runs ok, but I get a crash every time I try to open an
AbiWord window using File New or File Open - the console opens with
    an AbiWord.crash.log window.

If I try to open a new AbiWord window with XDarwin not running,
nothing happens (as expected!), but if I try when XDarwin is running,
I get a crash - so that proves at least that it finds the X windows
server, but then fails in some other way.

    Hope someone can help us!

    Thanks in anticipation,
    Julian
