    compiling from scratch is different from installing binaries please be
    specific. sounds like you are compiling from scratch.

    if you have compiled abiword from source and if i remember correctly there
    will be a binary Abiword_s in a directory or subdirectory of obj.

    I am not a mind reader exactly which commands did you run, which web page
    specifically are you talking about?
    There is documentation of the build instructions around somewhere
    (...looks around for a bit...)
    I look at the download page and i think i can guess. From the download
    page it says:

    "This may take a few minutes to complete, but should compile and install
    AbiWord. For a listing of common (and a couple not-so-common) build
    options, see abi/BUILD.TXT."
