People are making efforts to improve the documentation -- both in the
code and user documentation.
I just went looking for the Bottomline and Topline features (found them
under Format). Based on their behavior, I believe they were functions
added to provide a "simulated" "quick and dirty" way to create tables
(until a "real" method is implemented). There is also a way to create
vertical lines to complete the table, I believe it is the "Bar" tab
under Format --> Tabs.
There have been a few posts on this in the -dev maillist -- if you
search the archives you might find them -- I believe Martin Sevior
programmed this, so you'd find the posts associated with his name
(IIRC).
If you want to help improve the documentation in code or for users, I'm
sure your efforts would be appreciated. David Chart seems to be the
lead in user documentation at this point in time.
If you want to improve documentation in the code, you will probably need
to spend time digging into the code, learning the AbiWord adapted
guidelines for using Doxygen, and then submit a patch (probably).
