I have two things to say about that:

1.) Working towards 1.0, the developers are just trying to fix all the bugs
and get a more stable AbiWord. Adding new features is LAST priority right
now, especially little things that seem to be just "Look at my new feature!"

2.) I support the idea of adding features, but I've noticed that in trying to
be like MS Word, AbiWord has become bloated in places. For example, the
Format menu is HUGE!!! I wouldn't mind adding tons of features -- but the
program needs to stay small and fast, and the features themselves need to be
better organized on the frontend. This means submenus and better menu design!
Some people completely stop thinking when they've got too many features --
    it's too much for them.

So to summarize -- features have to wait, and when they do get added in, they
should be meaningful, efficient, and well-organized.

    >I am new in this. Just to thank the programmers and the people involved in
the development of Abi. I sent a suggestion which I think could be very useful
to make Abiword interesting for writers: a different words count program. None
of the commercial programs support it, only QuarkXPress would tell you how
many different words you used in a document. I know there are different ways
to evaluate how rich or poor your lexicon is. Having one of this tests run by
Abiword would be GREAT, but the "different words count" would be fair enough
    for the moment. Why
    >am I suggesting this? Because if Abi wants to gain a place among the
processors it should not only rely on its "I'm free" feature, but it should
offer things, no matter how small or apparently unimportant, that set it
appart from the other WP. Sorry about my english. Bye!
