Note this quote from the abiword download page:
----------
AbiWord will now be installed in /usr/share/AbiSuite. Symbolic links
called AbiWord and abiword will be installed in /usr/bin.
-----------

A few weeks ago I tried to install Abiword 0.9.4 on
my RedHat 7.1, using the rpm. Though this may be
considered strange, my /usr/share and /usr/bin
filesystems are on different partitions. rpm refused
to install abiword because (apparently) the rpm wanted
to make hard links from /usr/share/AbiSuite to /usr/bin
(the error messages I got suggested this). If this is
true, is it necessary to use hard links, as opposed to
symbolic links? I only put /usr/share on a separate
partition cuz it was huge (lots of LaTeX fonts).
