rpmfind.net. You may have to make several tries before you get the one
that is compatible with the glibc version you have.

Another possibility is ximian (aka helix). I have 1.2.8 versions of both
of the above that I got from there as part of updating gnome. But I
don't see why you couldn't use those 2 RPMs even if you don't want their
whole gnome suite. The individual RPMs are available here:

I have RH 6.2 so I can't vouch for whether these will be compatible with
your RH 6.1. I suspect the key question is what version of glibc RH 6.1
has.

...Ok, I just checked the RH 6.1 CD and it has glibc-2.1.2-11. My RH 6.2
system has glibc-2.1.3-15. I suspect from that that you won't have a
problem.
