Im geussing from the headers of your email that you are using Windows
(abiword is crossplatform and it can get confusing, so be clear).
I would have thought that abiword would try and save to the same
directory you saved to last time, or perhaps defautlt to the "My
Documents" folder?
If the default is not reasonably sensible then can be easily changed, if
you compile your own version of Abiword you can make huge changes if you
want to (the joys of open source)
allowing the user to set a preference is probably a bit more
complicated. Does MS Word do this? Please explain more clearly, and
maybe submit a Request for Enhancement to Bugzilla
http://bugzilla.abisource.com
Of course with the current push for version 1.0 new features will be put
on hold and the developers will be making abiword even more solid and
stable.
just in case you have not already read this weeks news
http://www.abisource.com/information/news/2001/awn73.phtml
particularly this bit,
http://www.abisource.com/support/expectations.phtml
its 5am again and im still awake, thats twice already this week and i
feel like crap
Later
