Why do we need MAC addresses?

    Hi Tomas,
             Currently the unix build has an assert on start-up because we
    haven't implemented the UT_UnixMisc getMAC address function.

    We're wondering what this actually does. There re many instances when
    computers will not have MAC address and other instances when different
    users will have the same MAC address (eg multi-user systems).

    So it's not clear what the get MAC address will actually do. Can you
    describe what you're trying to achieve with it?

    Can we think of other ways to achieve it?
