Abiword behavioral oddity and OpenBSD

I had an interesting time trying to get 0.9.4.1 to
even compile on OpenBSD but finally succeeded. and it
works. A couple of "#define __OpenBSD__'s and some
dirty hacks like hardcoding LIBDIR because somehow the
Makefile/gcc wasn't doing it's thing, and an extra
header here and there...

to whom do I direct patches/further discussion on the
port?

I haven't done much of a looksee at the archives yet
but why is it that when I select "close" and only have
1 document open the program just quits? This is
incorrect UI behavior. It should open a blank document
instead or at least blank the document area out and
limit menu selection to New/Open/Exit etc. I can't
think of a commercial document composition program
(word processor, editor, spreadsheet, presentation,
database) that just exits out like Abiword without the
user specifically asking to 'quit.'

(exception Netscrape - whose UI engineers need some
serious help. IE punted by labeling all windows with
"close" instead of having 'exit' as even an option but
browsers are arguably different animals.)
